Christmas in Coloma

Last Sunday we headed up the hill to Coloma to the Marshal Gold Discovery for an old time Christmas.  There were people in costume, activities, Santa, and lots of history to see.

We started off by looking at the replica of Sutter's Mill.  They came for the lumber and ended up finding gold!  Starting the Gold Rush in the mid 1800's.
Spinning wool into yarn, one of the many people we saw in costume.
 Music by the campfire.
The boys weren't brave enough to sit on top of the bicycle, but thought it was cool to see him riding around.
Virginia, Eli and Aiden came up and we were able to head across the river to see where Virginia teaches.

 Ahhhh....
Then we took a wagon ride.

The boys enjoying their candy cane treats.

The boys got to see the difference between gold and pyrite, taking some pyrite home so they could always know the difference.
See the different rock crushers they used for getting the gold out of the boulders.
