11/23/2013 Red vs Blue Intersquad Meet

Tyler had his first gymnastics meet with the Technique Boys team last night.  He did awesome and has come a long away with his skills.  This was great for him to see how a meet runs and for his coaches to see what they need to work on for the Season Opener in two weeks.
With a few of his level 4 teammates...
 Warming up....

Marching in with the Red team...

We thought it was interesting that he went first for his team on all the events, thinking they were placed in age order, but come to find out he volunteered.
 Watching floor.......
There were two official judges for the evening.  This judge was awesome, giving a quick clinic after the events.

A quick wrap up after the meet.
At this point it was about 8:15 and he was whooped!
 Go Team!

Here are his routines for the night.
I listed the scores before each event.  To be honest, we don't really know what is a good or bad score at this point and it will be interesting to see if he receives notes back from the judges on Monday.  Like swim, we will be marking improvements in the scores over the season to show his progression.

Enrichment Classes....

The boys have been enjoying their enrichment classes during the first session of the school year.
On Tuesdays Tyler attends hip hop and a building class, Cody attends chess and derby cars.
Once a month on Wednesday they both have an art class and LEGO class (Cody's is very advanced with computer programing), Cody also does and engineering class and Tyler does a life science class.

Highlights......

The fish Ty brought home from his life science class.  A month later, it's still alive and happy in a bigger tank!
Ty loves his Hip Hop class, he's not always on beat and usually goes the opposite direction, but is have a great time!

Video of the routine at the end of the first 6 week session

Cody's pencil holder made from coiling paper rope.

He has loved his chess class as well.  Hoping to get him a chess board for Christmas (with pieces that tell the rest of us how to play!)

His favorite class has been the derby cars.  He started with a block of wood, drew the body lines, helped to cut it, sand it and paint it.
 Getting the wheels just right....
 Ready to go!
 His race video....
(weird angles, sorry)

His car was voted best looking by the rest of the class

Now to start the next set of Tuesday classes!
