Playing Hookie: A Trip to Apple Hill...

On Tuesday, Keith took a day off of work and we pulled Cody from school for a day trip to Apple Hill.  Our weekends have been packed and the weather has turned gross, so we decided to take advantage of the slower weekday.  Keith's parents came along as well and it was a nice day!

Pumpkins!
 Mmm warm apple donuts...

At the second stop we bought our apples for the day, 60+ lbs each!  They also have a tractor and history barn that we walked through before ending up at the big water wheel.  It's usually not running, so I guess we haven't noticed it before, but they had just enough water running through to make it move.
We drove around to the next stop where we thought we might buy our pumpkins. The boys took turns on the tractor...

 Then we fed the sheep...
Took goofy pictures by the cut out boards...

And then became shell shocked at $15 pumpkins!
So we drove up the road and found some better deals..
3 good sized pumpkins for $10.
After trapesing about Apple Hill we headed down to Mel's for lunch.
After some much needed nap time we headed out back to carve our pumpkins.

 Oooo, Aahhhhh...

To finish off our pumpkin day we had a pumpkin shaped pizza.  Yum!
Apples and costumes are up next on the list!

Pumpkin Patch and Tyler Plays Soccer week 4

We've had a busy week here!

If you haven't heard, I was able to get a few things going and open my Etsy shop.  More items will come after Nov., but there are some cute things there now.  BSU fans and Halloween lovers should check it out!

Wednesday, Tyler's class had a field trip to the pumpkin patch.  We went to a smaller, local farm and everyone seamed to have a good time.  The trip was complete with a hay ride to the field, pumpkins to take home, hay bale maze and rope swings.
He loved the rope swings...

 On top of the maze...
Getting ready to head out to the field...
Checking things out along the way...
We walked around a bit, but then they spotted Mrs. Amanda and had to follow...
 Found one!
Back to the tractor before heading back in...
 Excited to have found pumpkins!
They had a few animals this year, so we checked out the pigs.
 Mmmm Snack!
We had a good time.  Hopefully we can fit in a trip for Cody in the next couple of weeks.

Thursday was week 4 of soccer class.  He had a different coach this week, but he was a ton of fun and the kids really liked him.  They worked on playing as a team, sharing and passing the ball.
Learning about spacing, so as not to be all up in your team mates business...
 Finding out what's next...
Next came passing, Ty helped to show what they were supposed to do.
Wait for it....
Get in front of it and squash it to a stop....
 pass it back!
Then they all took turns with each other and coach rotated around to each kid.
 Then it was game time...
 Break away!
Shoot..... and a miss, but close!
They all cheer when they score a goal...
It was nice to watch the game, he set it up and they worked on passing the ball, not just bunching around it.

Finally they had a race to pick up all the cones...

Not sure what all the weekend will bring!  We are headed over to the Bella Vista Homecoming game tonight as a couple of the boys from the shop are driving new convertibles with the Homecoming Court.   The boys area excited to watch some football in person.  I'm trying not to think about the fact that we are rooting for a team that's Red and Black (Boise Colors) instead of my beloved Green and Gold (Borah Colors).
Soccer and who knows what else will come as well.

Cody's Jog-a-Thon and Tyler plays soccer week 3...

Thursday was Cody's Jog-a-Thon at school.  We've been busy collecting donations all week and he reached his goal of $100!  His class raised a $867 dollar that will stay in their room for his teacher to use throughout the year.  Awesome.
They ran right after their morning recess, so here they are lined up on their spot...
 Normal goofiness that occurs...
 Getting ready to start...
 And their off!
All the way around the soccer field...
Cody getting his first check mark...
He would run, almost sprint, past all the parents then slow down and walk around the corners.
Still running...
 and running...
 Finished, red and sweaty...
Waiting to get his juice popsicle, in a daze...
All the kids did really well and seamed to have a good time.  Plus the school raised almost $20,000 that will stay with the respective teachers to use for things throughout the school year.

While we were at Jog-a-Thon, Tyler was headed to soccer with Grandpa S.  This week was his first week in the new, slightly older group.  From the pictures, she moved a few of the boys to fill the class out.
Going back over the rules and what they were doing for the day...
 Love their pinny dresses....

 In action, loving the smile...
 Practicing their dribbling some more...
They also played a real game, now we have to teach about not taking from our team mates...
Helping to pick up the cones.

Grandpa reported back that he played well with this group and really seamed to know what was going on.  He also scored a couple of goals in the game, Go Tyler!
