Sedona and Traveling through Arizona

There was a layover in Flagstaff as we waited until a campsite would open around the Grand Canyon.  It was nice to explore Sedona, such a beautiful area!

Our campsite for 2 nights

The idea was to head out to see the cliff dwellings, but once we started down the road we realized we needed a higher clearance vehicle, so we had to turn around.

To still enjoy the sites we went to Red Rocks State Park instead.
This has a long history of being owned by private people, as a religious colony and then given to the state as part of a larger trade deal.

There are so many trails and places to stop along the way.  We drove by Slide Rock state park that would be fun to stop at if it wasn't a weekend.

Part of the road we drove on between Sedona and Flagstaff

We also saw so many different types of landscape when driving to the Grand Canyon.

We stopped here for a quick lunch break and to see the sites.
