2nd Week in Boise...

Our second week in Boise has been a bit disappointing, mostly because at some point, everyone in the house has been sick. Like nasty, stomach bug sick.

Tuesday we were going to head out to the movies, but Cody was still a little punky. Mom had the day off, so we rented a video from Redbox and had a movie at home. This worked out well for me to be able to sneak out and check out some shops I had seen. One being a gigantic craft store, swoon....

By Wednesday, Cody was ready to head out for some fun, but Gramma and Grammpa were stuck home with the crud. So the boys and I went to the library for story time, then came outside to rain. So we hit Sonic for a quick bite and went to the cheap theater to see How to Train Your Dragon. It was good, Ty thought it was a bit scary, but Cody seamed to enjoy it. Once we stepped out of the theater, it was back to summer sun. So we headed out to a splash park in Eagle to cool off.

Unfortunately, the lightening from the night before had started a fire in the Eagle foot hills. So we watched the smoke cloud get bigger and the planes fly over dropping water and retardant, and eventually it was time to go.

By that late afternoon, I was feeling cruddy and it hit me by 8 o'clock that evening. So Thursday was mellow with me on the couch and the boys hanging out with Gramma.

Friday was better and we ventured out once again to go to the Zoo.

Monkeys...

African Cats...
Giraffes...

Wallabies....

Then we stopped to ride the carousel...
Ahh the penguins...

"I love you penguin"
Swimming...
Then after a stop for drinks we slid down the giraffe slide...
Kimono Dragon...

Big ol' Tortoise...
(Some day I would love to have one roaming our yard)
Once you see the tortoise, you have to be a tortoise
Tigers....

and bears...

We stopped for some lunch and I had had about all I could take and we called it day.
Saturday we have been busy getting things packed and ready. Then in the afternoon we headed over to my cousins wedding. As soon as we got out of the car Ty was sick. So was dashed home and he hung out with Grammpa and I dashed back just in time.
That pretty much ends our Boise trip. We will probably head home sometime on Sunday, depending on how he does overnight. He seams to have a softer case than the rest of us as he's already eating and getting back to his normal self.

MK Nature Center...

Monday Ty and I headed over to the Morrison Knudsen Nature Center to walk around the trails and see some fish. It's a very neat place that tells you about the fish and wildlife in the area, as well as the plants that grow.

First we had to stop and be an owl...
Then we walked around and looked over the bridges to see the fish...

They also had side views that once you did this...

You could see these....

While walking around we also spotted a dear...

The park is beautiful and quite peaceful to walk around.
Lots of water falls like this...

and this...

and this...

They also have flower gardens...

So after all the natural stuff, we headed over to the park to play...

And do a bit of swinging...

We stopped for some lunch, more groceries and then home to check on Cody. Cody had a bit too much water park on Sunday, taking in a bit too much sun and probably drinking a bit too much of the pool waters while sliding, waving pooling and swimming the river. Fingers crossed that he'll be better on Tuesday so we can go to the movies with Gramma.

Our weekend in Boise...

Friday was pretty lazy. After a night at the rodeo, we were all dragging a bit and that called for some time with a book and some favorite morning tv. Keith and I did get out for a late lunch at Mongolian, the stuff we crave all year until we can get up to Boise.

Saturday Mom and I took Ty down to the Market on 8th street. There were a ton of vendors, produce, wine and treats. After that we headed for lunch at Taco Time, another favorite I crave until we can come up, then off to pick Mom out some new prescription glasses. So after enduring all our shopping, we stopped by the pet store so Ty could see all the little pets and fish.

Cody stayed home and helped Grampa and Uncle Tim move cars around the shops, including a lunch stop for burgers.

Sunday we headed out to the water park for the day with Tim, Danna, Cody and Ashlee. What a blast! Cody was tall enough to ride anything he wanted to, and he proceeded to ride all the slides except 2. Tyler was a bit small for most everything, but we went down a couple of tube rides and he loved the 4 lane racer. (Think the giant slide at the fair that you ride down on a potato sack). Even with the lack of big slides Ty still had a blast in the kids area that had a climbing structure, spraying/dumping water and 5 small slides. We all spent a lot of time enjoying the wave pool and the lazy river. We may have to invest in a water-proof camera so we can catch these fun times! We all can't wait to go back!

So needless to say, I'm pooped and getting ready to sit and relax my Sunday evening away. Now if only Mom and Dad had HBO so I could keep up on my shows!

Rafting with the Boys...

Wednesday afternoon we had the opportunity to take the boys rafting. Many moons ago Keith trained and worked for a raft company and the owners are very good family friends. So we set it up and were able to take a good group of our kiddos along from some fun.

Getting ready to head down...

Tyler started the trip in the back, tucked right in the middle...

After a couple of rapid, Starburst candies were offered to all of those who had gotten their hair a bit wet during the ride...

Getting ready for another one...

Tyler moved around a bit and braved the edge with dad so he could help paddle...

Eventually, Ty was braved and moved himself to the front, and never came back...

Seriously, how cute is this!

They were having a blast...

The littler boys watching the swimming...

Between the rapids, the kids could get out and swim when Chad said it was okay. On a couple of the smaller rapids, they could swim down them. Cody was brave and went out with Chad at one point...

Coming back to the boat...

After a toss off the boat...

On some of the calmer waters, the kids took their turn at paddling...

On the last spot to jump in and play, Ty said he was going in! He hung onto the side and flung himself over, holding the boat the whole time, then just bobbed in the water for a short bit. I guess he was comfortable with it all!

We all had a great time and will do it again when we are up during the season. Keith was able to catch another boat trip Thursday as well after going up to help out a bit.
Can't wait to do it again!
