Sacramento Children's Museum

There is a secret lurking on the Sacramento Library website, free or discounted museum passes.  If you go to the "services" link and click on Museum passes it will take you to the pages that lists all that are available.  All it takes is a library card.
This is our fourth time using the passes and we are grateful to be able to partake in the fun!

This week we took advantage of our Spring Break time and took Aiden to the Sacramento Children's Museum.  The boys are a bit old for the museum, but they had fun showing Aiden around and playing with him.  They did have a couple of attractions that caught the boys' eye, especially the water area.

They have an awesome train table that is set up like downtown Sacramento.
Lights to make the water shine and buttons that make train, car and animal sounds.

One of the stations teaches about solar energy and lights, where you can race your light beams up using the solar panels.

The air tubes were super popular, making poof balls and scarves race through the different paths.
There were a few different ways to go by changing the air flow.
Aiden had fun collecting the balls as they shot out of the tubes.

Tyler really loved the water tables, building pipes to move the water around.

Aiden wasn't so sure the first time to this area.

The second pass he was really getting into it and ended up soaked!

He also had fun running around the puppet stage
 Turning the dials....
 Playing in the house....
 and painting on the wall.

 Handsome cousins!

This is a great place for the 1st grade and younger crowd, much older and it's just not as much fun.
Cody was a good sport showing Aiden around and playing.

Spring Blooms.....

Things are in bloom!  A few things have popped back up and a few new things have been started.  Fingers crossed we can keep our thumbs green and plants will stay alive!

The Valentines plant that keeps on growing.
The first blooms were vivid blue, but the new growth has been white with blue tips.

This was last week, the start of Tyler's giant pumpkins.
Cody's mini pumpkins also started to sprout.  The day after we planted these the big rain storms happened and we feared they were flooded.
Trying something new, (or again 12 years later) planted different varieties of Morning Glories along the front walk way.  It's fun to see them start to sprout and how different the plants look.

 The strawberries are back!
Love the beauty of this plant.
The rock rose plants are still growing nicely
 Lots of buds...
 The flowers appear over night
Sometimes they will last a few days, or they fall off before the morning is over.  Weird.
A few days after the first shots we noticed a lot of growth from the pumpkins.

 Cody's mini's have a lot more sprouts.

Hopefully we'll have some colorful and fruitful updates to come!

Week 15

4/8 - 4/14

The boys scrounged up some batteries for their walkie talkies.
I have found them like this many times, feet apart, talking to each other through the speakers.
I know they have also gone opposite ways down the street to test their range.

Lots of things are in bloom, more to come on that....

A field trip to go ice skating made for a great Thursday.

I finally finished our everyday wreath.
The fabric strips were finished a while ago (although I kept back shelving it) and it hung for a while without embellishments.
Then the idea it to use Perler beads to add some details.
A bit of Pinterest inspiration later and it was finished!

April's block of the month.

Clinic started on Monday, two more weeks to the official start of swim season!
