Cody's Birthday Party

With an unknown soccer schedule for Cody's Birthday weekend, we opted to hold his friend party a week early.  This year he chose to go to Golfland in Roseville for unlimited arcade games, pizza and laser tag.  They all had a great time and couldn't wait to host their parties there!

 Laser tag was fun, they really loved the glow.  

 After we said goodbye to friends and packed up the car it was time for a spin on the go-karts.  

10 is the magic number for Cody, finally tall enough to drive his own cart!

Week 12

3/18 - 3/24

Cody has been warming up to swim season with a 4 week clinic, Friday was the final day.  He has been happy to be back in the water.

A bunch of the boys were early to gym on Thursday, so Coach John dug out the football for them to play with for a few minutes before the places filled up.  Gotta love off season.

 There was just enough cake batter left to make two mini cakes, so the boys had to make sure the cupcakes were up to par for Saturdays party. 

 Saturday was Cody's Birthday party at Golfland, the boys had a blast with unlimited video games, pizza and laser tag.

 We worked a bit outside over the weekend.  The boys planted pumpkins in the backyard barrels, hopefully they will grow and produce this year.

 I planted a bunch of Morning Glories along the front path.  

Fingers are also crossed that they will grow and we can train them to vine on the forms. 

 Then on Monday we found lice.  Oh the joys of kids!  

So heads were shaved, treated and nits were picked.  These two pictures pretty much sum up how they feel about their new dos.

Ty had a hard time with this once he realized that we were still going to gym, to the point he gave himself a stomach ache with worry.  He finally took his hoody off after warm-ups, because he had to (Coach's rule), but did a good job moving past it.  Coach told him it was a cool look, that helped a bunch.  

Week 11

3/11 - 3/17

Cody missed his first night of soccer, but he's been working on his agility.  

We brought home geodes from our trip, the boys had fun trying to break them open.

 

 Tyler's cracked open nicely. 

 Cody's was a bit more solid, so only pieces were chipped off. 

 Tyler's medal holder arrived this week.

 

 Looks good with all his metal from the season. 

 Their wall is very full, with more swim ribbons on the opposite side.  

 Tyler went to a back handspring clinic on Saturday.  We were not please with the layout or results, so we've learned our lesson.

The boys wore their green on Monday for St. Patrick's, but that was about all we did for the day.  Super lame, so lame there wasn't even a picture taken! 

San Luis Obispo Trip

We took advantage of the 5 hour trip by making a bit of a vacation out of the State Meet weekend.  

Our tour started very early Friday morning, trying to make it to Monterrey to check out the tide pools.  We arrived a little later than planned, but still saw a few neat things.  

 We were a bit too early for the light house, maybe next time.

 Next we headed over to the natural history museum.  

 After lunch and a bit of wondering, we headed over to Dennis the Menace park to get out some energy.

A bit of school time Friday afternoon

 On Saturday we started our journey to San Luis Obispo, stopping at the Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero. It wasn't very big, but had some great exhibits.  There was also a great park where we ate lunch and the boys played for a bit. 

 Once we were in San Luis Obispo, we went to the Mission and walked around the area a bit. 

 We stayed 2 nights at the KOA in Santa Margarita.  It was nice, a bit hilly so the boys didn't enjoy riding their bikes, but found some kids to play with on the bounce pillow. 

Here's our first cabin, it was infested with red ants, so we asked to move so we could enjoy our stay.  

They were very accommodating and it helped to be there in the off season. 

 After the meet on Sunday we headed back to downtown San Luis Obispo for a yogurt treat.

 Then it was off to Avilla Beach for boogie boarding and hanging out.  We found a rental shop so the boys could have wet suits and hit the waves.  

Ty was in and out of the water as he gets too cold.  Once we lured Cody into the waves, he never came out!  They both had a blast.

 Sunday night we had a fire and s'mores.

 After breakfast on Monday we packed the truck and started for home.  

We had passes to visit the USS Hornet Museum in Alameda.

 We took a docent tour up to the control deck that was really great. 

 Then we headed below deck to see the living quarters, and other areas of the ship.  

Here are all the different planes that launched off the ship. 

 The Hornet recovered Apollo 11 & 12 at the end of their missions, the boys enjoyed this part quite a bit. 

 The astronauts were put into quarantine for 25 days after each mission to protect earth from "moon germs."  This was the back up for 11 & 12 and was used for mission 14.

We can't wait to go again when we have more time.  

Overall we had a great trip.  Sleeping was a bit slight most the trip, but we all caught back up pretty quickly.
