Pumpkin Carving.....

The boys love carving pumpkins, one of their favorite parts of Halloween.
We took the two part approach this year, cleaning them out on one day and then carving another.

Our tips of the season....
Fill a spray bottle with 1/4c water and 1/2c bleach, then spray all over the insides, lid and cut part of the pumpkin.  This has kept our pumpkins from shriveling.

They took the lead and did most of the carving and cleaning on their own.

Elk Grove Ghost Games

Cody's team played in one of the many Halloween tournaments going on in our area.  The games were rough, going along with how our season has been, making for a long weekend.
A huge highlight happened during the 1st game when Cody scored his 1st goal!
He hasn't scored a goal in outdoor soccer since his U6 days and only had 1 goal during the indoor season.  He was a bit shocked it went in, but it was a nice ball that found the back of the net.

One of the fun things about this tournament was all the costumes.  Minions were popular, as were Things from Dr Seuss, then we saw Refs, Smurfs, Life guards, hippies, super heroes and a few others.   If we do this next year, we'll have to put a bit more thought into it.

Trunk or Treat....

To cap off our fun Friday we went over to the Orangevale Community Center Trunk or Treat and movie night.  The boys had fun test driving their costumes, meeting up with friends and scoring some pre-Halloween candy.  After TOT we went into the gym to watch Hotel Transylvania.  Lots of fun!

Harvest Festival

I love our charter school!  To give the students a sense of community they hold quite a few events throughout the school year, a favorite being the harvest festival.  There was carnival style games, face painting, cupcake walk, pumpkin painting, a pirate ship to explore and hot dog lunch.
