Bun's new area...

Bun now has a new, smaller area to roam in the yard.
I give it a full day before she figures her way out.
Hopefully with a few more bricks we can help prevent this from happening.

She spent a couple of days in her house.
After I opened up the hatch for her to come out and she explored a bit, I was happy to see her go back and hang out a bit.  She hasn't use her house much at all since we got her.
We made sure to leave one of her chairs to hang out in and under.
Little troublemaker!

Kids Art Festival

Fair Oaks Recreation department puts on a great kids art festival that is completely free.

Awesome.

They have a few food vendors if you choose to have lunch or a snacks.  There are art projects displayed from the local schools, always fun to see if you know anyone.   An outside stage is set up for all kinds of performances, from dance to singing to bands.  Then, there's all the different areas set up with different kinds of art projects to do.

Glue, salt and food coloring made for sand style art.

 Play-doh stop
 Bookmarks and magnets
 Streamer wands

 Marble painting
There was two different stops for clay projects.

One other stop was hosted by the Fair Oaks library where they made puppets and then they could pick out a free book.  We were also able to signup for the summer reading program that starts on June 1st.
We will be marking this down on the calendar for next year, such a great time!

Negro Bar picnic....

Usually on Fridays we go to the park and meet up with our homeschooling friends.  This week a bunch of them had a field trip with another group they belong to, so we headed out to Negro Bar for a picnic and water play.

Aiden and I found some shade under the lifeguard tower and settled in.
 Watching the big kids.....
Before long the water was calling to the boys.

 "We're having fun too, right?"
There were quiet a few butterflies out as well.  This one rested on the sand long enough for a few photos.

Great start to our weekend!

Garden Update....

Hooray, things are growing!
This is an accomplishment at our house.  I've had years where my thumb was green and others where it turns black.  It's fun and the boys are loving see things happening.
Let the tour begin....
We have a potato plant that's come back from last year, we'll see how it goes.
4 of my 5 bushes along the walk way are doing well, one is dead.
I'll have to replace it in a couple of weeks and see if we just got a bad one or if it's the spot.
The smallest of them started to bud and is trying to bloom.
I wasn't sure the rock roses under the windows were doing well and then this morning this beauty showed up.  So excited to see a plant full of these.
It's kinda hard to see, but there are a bunch of buds on these rock rose plants.
The pumpkin plants are moving right along.  When we planted them you couldn't see them from the side, now they are starting to poke through the chicken wire.

 Go, pumpkins, go!
I think our smashing success for the season will be the strawberries.  These are all left over from last year.  I pruned out the totally dead plants and they are now thriving.
Every day we are out looking for red ones.

 Ooo, starting to turn pink!
  YAY!
 Strawberry flowers are very pretty.
I'm not sure what these plants are, but they grow on our neighbor's side of the yard.  So pretty.

The backyard barrels are doing okay.
They would be better without visits from the rabbit.
(see the big area in the middle that's smashed and not growing)

 Same with this barrel.

We've had a bit of a turf war this last couple of weeks with bun.
We partially filled in her big burrow hole just to have her start digging around the edges again.
Then finding her in the planters sent me over the edge.
I was able to catch her in the barrel this morning and gently put her into her cage.  This weekend I plan to move her fencing around to give her a smaller area in the yard.
Operation take back the yard has started!

Spring Fling Gymnastics Show......

It's that time of year again!  Show off night at the gym.
Tyler is in two classes a week, so that means two nights of shows.

Monday's show wasn't his best work, especially after being in the pool for an hour before class.

His Thursday show was much better.
(It's also fun to see Cody watching his floor routine in the background)

It's crazy how far he's come in a year....

Fingers are crossed for him, there's some big moves coming up.

Boating....

The boys have been saving their money for a while and with Cody receiving a bit more for his Birthday they were ready to make a purchase.  They shopped around and decided to pool it together to purchase two remote control boats.  A remote control boat has been on both of their wish lists for a while now.
